This soldier had just gotten off the plane after spending a year in Afghanistan and was in the middle of debriefing. He didn’t expect to be able to see his wife and daughter for another two weeks, but they came to surprise him! One of his superiors called him in to an office and told him that the Sgt. Major had to speak with him. When they called him to attention, it wasn’t the Sgt. Major who walked in, but his family instead…

Mary – each of us feels – reacts – in our own way. You can see/feel her anxiousness – it has been an entire year! She also has their young daughter in tow and have no doubt she anxious of her reaction as per her small comment to her husband…she may be a little shy. This mom is channeling so many emotions at one time – as is her Soldier. We all need support and cut slack and just let it happen…. It’s all good.

Takes my breath away – imagine this soldier’s emotions – how many times has he seen his wife and daughter in his dreams. His dreams now his reality and he is able to allow himself to break free from his thoughts to reality….the fragrance of his daughter, her very small hand on his arm as she hangs on – the feel of her small body. Do you notice how – in the middle of this world – all these soldiers relate? Give them room? Want to make it happen? Not a single one cannot relate to this soldier’s feelings. As his tears flow, his fellow brothers understand – having had the same dream themselves for oh so long. God Bless every single one of them. God Bless them.

When you are a father and pretend you are away from your family and the rest of those who you care the most about. And feel the sorrow the have deep inside their hearts for you that you are walking in a situation in which theirs is every minute the ambush of death built for you. how a human will bear such a separation? this is the question that can only be answered by whom they are parents and family members. i you know the value of loving one, you will understand what separation means to you and how bitter it is.

As a veteran it always make me smile when I see a soldier coming home to his or her family. And seeing what other soldiers do (as in this video) to make it happen makes me proud to call them my brothers/sisters. Good job guys

It is wonderful to see a family be able to surprise their soldier. With all they endure and all they give and sacrifice . . . they deserve these happy surprises, too! This video does not have the Broadway Bang feel of some of the “big” surprises that go so viral (which is not said to diminish from those wonderful surprises!) . . . it has the quiet, heartfelt, completely disarming element of what – as someone else commented – what I’m sure every soldier and every family left waiting patiently dreams.
