Marine Lt. Col. John Sharkey returned from Afghanistan to surprise his daughter Collen at North Fort Myers High School in Florida. At a school assembly Colleen was asked “what do you want for Christmas?” and she replied, “For my dad to come home.” Colleen was surprised and in tears to find out her dad was already home and there to surprise her. Lt. Col. Sharkey is the commander of the Marine Corps Logistics Command and was responsible for the redeployment of all the equipment and supplies for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. Camp Leatherneck at one point based over 40,000 coalition forces and contractors and was handed over to the Afghan Army last month.
A 4-year-old boy got the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday morning, being reunited with his mom who has been serving our country in the Middle East for the past nine months.
A military family was reunited during the Army-Navy game.
