Ret. Master Sgt. Mariana Shorter flew in from Hawaii to surprise her nephew, Christian Lopez, 13. For more than a year Christian has been battling stage 4 cancer and has defeated it. The teen was left in tears after a group of soldiers marched to his front door in his honor and presented him with official combat gear and patches of his battle won. Also, in his honor, Mayor Walsh proclaimed May 16th ‘Christian Lopez Day’.
