Gary Linfoot has been on a mission to get something back, something that was taken from him eight years ago and eight thousand miles away after he was deployed to Iraq. While on his 20th deployment, a helicopter accident left him paralyzed. But it wasn’t until years later -when he received a call from his daughter’s boyfriend for her hand in marriage- that he was inspired to begin the toughest mission in his life.

Michigan National Guard Elainnie Ingram traded what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life to help with the relief of Hurricane Irma. Receiving notice just ten days before her wedding that she would be deploying on her wedding weekend, Elainnie didn’t even consider trying to get out of duty. “I signed up for this six years ago. So it's my time to do it, and it just so happened to be the wedding weekend but you can plan another wedding,” she said.
