In nearly 4 years of serving in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, it wasn’t until recently that Army Captain Trina Edwards had missed a birthday for her daughter Ava. Now that she back home, Captain Edwards won’t have to worry about missing another one. Surprising Ava was just the first of many memories that this mom will be making now that she can spend more time with her.

This Army mom says her kids are little superheroes for two reasons. First, they spend a lot of time away from their mother, the deployment she just finished was over 9 months long. The second reason is because they are resilient, no matter how long she is gone they always behave at home while she serves.
