Second grader explaining the importance of care packages gets surprise visit from Soldier dad

Students at Osborne Elementary School in PA got a lesson in kindness that turned into a display of love. After sending care packages to US troops in Qatar, including one of the father of a fellow student, 7-year-old Imogen.

During the school’s “Kindness Assembly,” Imogen was asked to speak to the students about the impact their care packages make when she received a special surprise. Her dad, Army Captain Erik Nowak who had been deployed for several months in the Middle East had returned early. Shocked to see him standing in front of her, Imogen leaps into her dad’s arms as she burst into tears.
