Daughter surprised with the best early Christmas presents when Soldier mom returns home

A 12-year-old girl in Atlantic County received one of the best early Christmas presents ever on Tuesday.

Hailey Allen was in for a huge surprise when her mom, Sgt. Lia Cater returned home from an 11-month deployment overseas, a 6ABC report says. The reveal happened during an assembly at Mullica Township. Middle School, according to the report.

The moment was sentimental. Hailey dropped to her knees when she realized her mom had surprised her. She couldn’t hold back the tears as the mother-daughter duo embraced for the first time in almost a year.

Hailey was wearing her mom’s command shirt during the big reveal, 6ABC says. Cater serves with the New Jersey Army National Guard, according to the report.
