Soldier Surprises Son at Tennessee Smokies Game

Sgt. Adam Dowell has been a member of the Army for eight years and has been deployed multiple times. The 26-year-old recently returned home from 10-month stay in Kuwait and Jordan with the 252nd Military Police Company. Upon his arrival, he decided to surprise his 5-year-old son, Brayden.

“We had been thinking of ideas on what we could do that would be special for both of our kids,” said Dowell’s wife, Lisa Vanegeren Dowell in an interview with Times Free Press. “Adam’s coworker’s wife, Melissa, said she could probably talk to someone with the Smokies and it grew from there. They were more than glad to help and be a part of it.”

Brayden was “randomly” chosen to participate in a dance off during the middle of the first inning. His mom walked with him down to the field, where he was blindfolded for the competition. With his blindfold on, little Brayden started to dance his heart out. Once it came off and he saw his father, the entire crowd busted into applause.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the stadium.
